The Ashen

The Ashen are a fierce breed of wolves, larger than normal and almost un-canine in a certain way (see information on claws). They originated living in caves and beneath overhangs on mountainous—usually volcanic—terrain. Most of their population is still in such places to this day, forming large packs which send out hunting parties far and wide in search of large prey (although it is not unheard of for them to live elsewhere, even mingling with other wolflike species). Due to their predominant environment, Ashen have evolved the ability to sense oncoming volcanic activity in much the same way that animals may sense other natural disasters.

Description

The average Ashen can be anywhere from two to four feet at the shoulder, and properly proportioned as a wolf, except the paws. The colors of their fur range the rather dull spectrum of black to white and places in between, usually comprised of a greater and lesser color, but sometimes it’s hard to tell which is which, and more than two colors can be present. Their greater color makes up the majority of their fur, and lesser colors are spread out amongst it. They are oft colored in a scratch-like pattern, as if their lesser colors were flicked onto their coats by one swinging a wet paintbrush in their direction (Try to refrain from testing this on your dog).

The eyes of Ashen are highly reflective, causing them to glow like fiery coals, with the exception of those black-eyed individuals (generally referred to as “Dark-eyesâ€
