Shadowwolf has revised this history a great deal, and I suggest you go look at it on the MM history page on the new website we have for the MoonMist:

This is a ROUGH history of the Moonmist. If ANYONE has anything to add, please do.

(I'm going to use an olldddd history account I found on our old maxpages site and edit it a bit. It contains some stuff I didn't remember. Some of it could use a lot of extra detail, but bear with me for now. I'm editing stuff I wrote at eleven. x3)

It was the pack started in 1999, when WolfWeb had first started, when the CrystalMoon merged with the BlackMist pack. Crystalight and BlackClaw alphaed the CM, Shadowwolf and Whitefang alphaed the BM.

It all began with a young adult female wolf named Shadowwolf, she began to form a small pack called the BlackMist. The first wolf to join was Whitefang, a strong black male wolf. Shadowwolf was quite taken with him. A few other lone wolves became members, and the pack flourished.

Almost at the same time the BlackMist began, a wolf named Crystalight created a pack as well. It's name was the CrystalMoon. The CrystalMoon did not have very many members, and Crystalight wondered if the pack would survive. Shadowwolf had an idea that since CL's pack wasn't doing very well and the BlackMist had dwindled to three, they should perhaps take the bold move of combining their packs. Crystalight thought it a great idea and the two packs, Black Mist and CrystalMoon, became one. The MoonMist.

After a while, Shadowwolf and Whitefang began to spend more time with each other and became mates. CL also had met a wolf to call her mate, his name was BlackClaw.

There were now four alphas running the MoonMist pack, more and more members kept on joining. One of these members was Wind Caller, who became the well-known pup sitter of the pack, she was friendly toward everyone and simply adored pups, but when the time came to protecting the pack, she became as fierce as the alphas.

One day, a creature named Amaroq ( AMAROQ__ xD remember?) attacked the MoonMist pack. The battle was short, but bloody, and the four alphas planned to move the pack lands elsewhere, somewhere safe and somewhere with more territory. The new land that they found became the MoonMist valley.

(Crystalight's 'High Howl' protects the borders, it sealed off all evil entry. Gosh, was I such a kid.)

There were no pups in the pack until Crystalight and BlackClaw became parents.

Shadowwolf and Whitefang began to adopt many stray and lonely pups.

One day Wind Caller met Wind Howler the two became mates and watched the pups together.

CL and BlackClaw had five puppies: MidnightThunder and TornadoWhip were the only names I remembered.

After CL's pups were older, BlackClaw was tranquilized by humans and taken away for an unknown reason. Crystalight slipped into deep depression, mourning the loss for a long time.

TornadoWhip, CL's oldest son, had gone off to find a mate and make his own pack. He tried to form the StormySonya, with ShootingStar and Rainbow Chaser. Rainbow Chaser left to form the TimberFalls, and TornadoWhip became aggressive. Shooting Star left him as well.

CL disappeared in her mourning for three months. Shortly after, she found a new mate, Syntack, but he disappeared as well, leaving Crystalight alone once more.

Whitefang and Shadowwolf finally had pups. There seven of them, but two were killed by a couger.

The MoonMist pack lost some members, and gained many more, they created enemies, and they created allies. Crystalight began searching for another mate to help her run the MoonMist, she met SunFaze and Crystalight was again happy. BlackClaw made a random return appearance but didn't linger with the pack for long.

At that time, the only evil wolf around was DarkSun, but soon, other evil wolves appeared and staked out their territory around the MoonMist. The closest evil pack to the MoonMist was the EvilWind, and with the location of the two many skirmishes occured.

Shadowwolf and Whitefang's pups grew older and Katiol, the oldest pup, began to venture more into the EvilWind lands. He got in trouble many many times, collecting multiple scratches bruises from fights.

SunFaze began to rarely come around, until finally Crystalight had had enough of his disappearing. She's just not too good with the guys. =/

She found a new mate, Apollo.
And wow, Apollo left too...(hrm, maybe CL had stds.) CL had no mate. Shadowwolf and Crystalight had an argument. Crystalight said she was leaving, but the conflict disappeared.

Whitefang left.

Crystalight thought she'd finally have a stable new mate, Cutter. A large, golden wolf, he stayed around longer than any of the others. They had five pups, (names again escape me, not all of them were active.) one of them was Esperanza, one Riparare, another Bello. A tragic riverside experience led to the death of three, the disappearance of two others, and the disappearance of Cutter.

Crystalight abandoned the pack.

Shadowwolf later left, there was nothing left of the pack for two years.

Bello and Crystalight were reunited, and currently reside in the MoonMist lands, alone, not even speaking to each other much, wandering around idly.

The MoonMist lands is comprised generally of a large valley surrounded by a ring of mountains. Four rivers intersect near the center. The only entrance other than scaling the mountains is through the 'waterfall cavern', a tunnel through the mountains concealed on the outside by a small waterfall that one can walk through.

Ok, so a few people have been wondering about the specifics of this. It is the story of Crystalight's High Howl, originally written in 2000, now redone completely so you don't have to deal with a 10 year old's grammar. ^^

Shadowwolf is supposed to be puttin this on the new MoonMist website, which will hold all the history and maps and such.

The Story of the High Howl

Crystalight, as a pup, lived in a small pack that was comprised of her immediate family: her mother, Crystal; father, LightningDare; two sisters, Crystal Ice and CrystalCross; brother, CrystalDare; and male cousin, Midnight Shadows. They were normal wolves with no known Light or Dark powers and lived in a small forest ringed and striated by creeks. Crystal was a coyote, and LightningDare was a red wolf. Such matches were uncommon in the area, which was rather northern and had few coyotes; due to this, many surrounding wolf packs refused to speak with this small pack. Crystal's appearance with Midnight Shadows in the area a year before had been strange and there were as many rumors accompanying her as there were pawprints she left in the snow on her northern journey.

LightningDare thought nothing of it; he hadn't any idea, and never knew that Crystal was a Light wolf. Her family had been gifted with strange powers and had been in constant war with the Dark and Evil wolves since the origins of time. She herself had shown no special ability but she was marked in her aura, and was a target. She'd fled her old home to make a new one, without memory of the old.

That was until the Dark came knocking at their very den door.

Crystalight was playing with her older cousin Midnight Shadows while her parents were away hunting. The size of the pack meant there was no pup-sitter available, yet both adults were needed to bring down food. So they left for short amounts of time, seeing little threat in the peaceful forests other than the occasional mountain lion that appeared once every blue moon.

The threat came, however, and in the form of a massive wolf by the name of Alquaq. He was a demon wolf in intensive training to become a war leader against the Light side, and had lived for nearly a century. His eyes were a flaming crimson and his body gave off the impression of more size than it actually held. The actual color of his body was hard to define; he seemed black, but it was almost as if the coloring of his body itself was out of focus.

When Crystalight lay her eyes on this being she thought he stood 200 feet tall at least, taller than the trees to her suddenly frozen young body. In all reality, he was no more than fifteen feet at the shoulder, and twenty feet long- still colossal. Crystalight felt as if she was choking on her vocal cords in her attempt to scream out for her mother.

Her parents appeared, bursting from the brush, Crystal in the lead. LightningDare nearly fainted at the sight of the huge wolf, but instead managed to keep his head and collect the puppies in twos and shove them into the den. Crystal was beside herself, not knowing what in the world to do but knowing that Alquaq, this dark being, had come to eliminate her and her lineage so that no more Light wolves could come forth from her bloodline. Despairing, she rode up on the wolf's back, climbing it, and grabbed his throat from behind. At the same time, LightningDare was harassing Alquaq's paws in an attempt to make him lose his footing. A loud screech followed as LightningDare was crushed beneath the demon's weight. CrystalDare ran from the den, yipping loudly, adrenaline fueling his actions, and puppy rage from his father's death. Fire seemed to shoot from nowhere, and the whelp began to burn; within a few moments all that was left was ashes. With a twist of his head, Alquaq snatched Crystal from his back and tore her to shreds, leaving her mangled body on the ground.

Midnight Shadows and Crystalight were wavering in horror at the den's mouth. At the site of their family being torn apart, they let loose simultaneous howls- CL's was extremely high, and MS's was extremely low. Both were beyond human hearing range. The emotion in the howls was full of love and longing and sorrow- and a strong, untapped Light power. This raw force of power, fueled with the love and sadness of two whelps, would not let Alquaq's Dark body remain intact. It shattered his mind and body and left him as though never, ever there to begin with.

* * *

Crystalight's High Howl has long been a tool used against Demons and Evil. It works only occasionally, however- only when emotion is strongest. She forfeited this howl's power when the MoonMist was moved into the lands it holds now- they had been chased by Dark forces, and she let loose her howl in a long stream that fell across the mountainous borders and secured them strongly against all that wished to do them evil- not necessarily even Dark forces or Demons, just all with intentions of death, destruction, or harm.

This power is linked directly to Crystalight's life force. The Light energy in her is connected to her very being, the energy that is her soul, in a sense. As this life force weakens, the border may occasionally slip. When she dies, the power over the borders will not vanish. However, due to its need of a life force, the borders will experience a sudden slip in protection as the power finds another center. This center will need to be her bloodline, and living in the MoonMist lands at the time of the switch (most likely Bello). There is no guessing how long this switch will take, and it is a potential danger that may lead to temporarily unguarded borders.
