Good News and the Bad.

Postby icewolf2000 on Fri Mar 14, 2008 7:14 am

After I got home from my wolf keeper for a day i recieved my "BBC Wildlife" Animal magazeine, and I flicked through it and I saw a page on wolves, and I thought "Wow, this is my lucky wolf day," but as I read through it my mind was going haywire...

The good news was that wolves where now off the endangered speices list.
The bad news was that in three States in America, (Wyoming, Idaho and Montana) will be licenced to hunt grey wolves this autum. Wolves are already being shot in Alaska, using "Aerial shooting"

What I don't get is, people have spent years trying to get the grey wolf numbers up, then to only come of the endangered speices list and to start the cirlce again.

So thats shooting wolves, to then try and reduce them back to the wild get their numbers up, once they are up they will have them culled again. Then the circle starts again...

Whats the point in trying to reintroduce when only to have them culled again,

Ughh. I know about this. It saddens me and angers me, and confuses me for the same reason it does you. WHY ON EARTH would you start it again? I swear that if I wasn't a Christian I would hunt the wolf hunters.
People make me mad and make no sense.

It has always been in the plan to hunt Wolves after they were removed from the ESL. Sadly enough

Unfortunately guys, it's an awful sad fact that people *hate* wolves-and if you haven't noticed-even reintroducing them has been a hard fought uphill battle.

Realistically, the truth is people in other countries have problems with wolves eating their dogs (Some have posted here about it) because wolf populations are high. You think opinions are bad about wolves now, wait until Fifi becomes a dinner snack for a wolf!

Am I advocating hunting? Is there another way to keep them out of the city where 99.8% of people hate, or at the VERY BEST, fear them terribly? There probably is, but people would much rather kill them.

I am the last person, who, having a wolf who loves me-would want to see *any* wolf hurt. The fact is, wolves have a purpose-that purpose is to hunt, and reproduce, which is what they do, until you look out of your backyard and you see one.

From there, it's a matter of time before people either start feeding it, or shooting at it. People simply do not know how to handle a wolf being so close to them. (And consequently, a wolf does not know how to handle people! They are aloof, but curious.) God's honest truth is that if you see a wolf in the wild, even in your backyard-chances are you are in next to 0 danger.

In the wild, virtually all animals know better than to hurt people (it's in the Bible), they would rather you just leave them alone.

If you look at it realistically, a *lot* of people are injured or killed by wolves' prey every year. The sad fact is that people think of it backwards-that deer are harmless and wolves are vicious man-eaters. Neither is true.

I knew this was coming. It's awful tot think about-so I don't. But if they aren't culled, when you start seeing articles on how so and sos dog was eaten (If my dog was eaten I'd be livid, too-but then again I'd protect him) expect the public to go from uncaring or fearful to out and out outraged.

Expect lots of poaching, lots of thrill killing, to get back the wolf or wolves responsible. Would you rather see people hunt them with a license, one at a time, or people wipe out an entire pack with a group of snowmobiles, because they read about how Fido got eaten and were afraid for their dog (And livid at the wolves, who probably had nothing to do with it?)?

Am I a wolf lover? Yes. I would take a bullet for Mishomi. Think that's nuts? Well, I would. I would fight for the wolves at WMS, no problem. But do you have a better solution, now that there is a "healthy" population of wolves in sight? Fence them in? Fence them out? ($$$$$$$$$) That opens a huge can of worms. Audio suppression? Maybe. But right now, the truth is, there is no other option at this point.

I wish the public knew what I knew about wolves, but people just don't want to listen and usually truly do not care.

I think that the Wolves have made a great comeback.... It says alot about Nature at work.

Unfortunately, this day was inescapable from the onset of Re-introduction

I hope that the individual State's will make the best decision's for "Management" (Highly doubtful though).

I hate that Wolves have to be killed, but I do hold out hope that they will endure in the wild places & reclaim their former territory.

For me that is an accomplishment in itself.

The hatred of Wolves, comes from the "Old Country" & will never die. It is passed down through the generations.

The thing that burns me the most, is overgrazing on Public lands! The Cattle are destroying our pristine wilderness & Wolves are the Scapegoats!

Anyone 'Interested' in the truth should visit www.forwolves.org & read the info on the Website. The Western Watershed Project is an eye opener!

If you really want to help save the Wolves Boycott Beef.... Every Damn bit of it!! Tell the Cattle Ranchers grazing on Public lands & pushing to kill Wolves...."I'm eating Chicken Baby!"...lol

...."I'm eating Chicken Baby!"...lol

Now that did make me chuckel, hehe.

it doesn't help that farmers are moving and expanding.
More farmers, more land, more land, more cattle, more cattle, more "wolf Killings" more wolf killing the more farmers will hate and shot.

Having stoires dones't help the matter either.
Red Riding Hood, Three Little Pig.
(bothe stories I liked only because of the wolf. Lol.)
Making the furutre generation hate the wolf more.

I would like to see the politicians who pass these laws along with those who vote for these laws put out in the wilderness with nothing but clothes, and then hunted down by ground and airgunners. See how they like it.
Maybe that will change their minds a bit.

I'm starting to suspect this internet toughguy routine stems from your complete inability to actually make any difference. Am I close?

Seriously, anytime you feel like taking on some innocent unarmed people, feel free to seek me out. I'd be happy to start supporting all the things you disagree with if that's what it takes to qualify as a target for your little murderous fantasies.
May the light shine always soft and warm upon you,
may the breeze carry you the scents and sounds of eternal Spring,
just as my heart will dwell forever in Autumn without you,
and the bell that tolls for me will ever ring.

I half expected you to make a pessimistic and hateful post regarding mine.
It is a hipothetical situation. Jeez. I wouldn't actually murder someone. I am a strong Christian and would never do something like that. I say it to expres a point, which you don't get or you get and still want to be hateful towards people.

Have you confessed lately? Maybe you should tell them you have fantasies about mass murder. That's got to be some sort of sin.

Did you even read hald of what I just said?
I said it to express a point.
Not because I would actually want to mass murder people.
And I don't confess to a priest, I confess to God through prayer as I am not Catholic.

Thank You Icewolf!

The reason the Politicians support Grazing on Public Lands (Lands we, American Taxpayer's support) is the $$ the Beef Cattle industry is comprised of...... (They pad the pockets of said Politician's)

Boycott Beef, put them out of business!

If they were grazing wholly on land they owned, no problem, do what you please! They are not & it's wrong!

It was recentley reported that a Ranch owner in Montana? was baiting Wolves to get the "3 Strikes Rule" implemented to remove the pack. DOW had paid him Predator compensation & a court ruled he must give DOW the money back. I'll look for the News article & post it....
Wrong, Wrong, Wrong!
